Review: Family Guy “Underage Peter”

Oh jeez.

Spoilers Below

After Peter destroys the public library due to drunken shenanigans, Mayor West passes a new law that raises the minimum drinking age to 50 years old. Brian finds a loophole to this by representing his age in dog years in order to obtain alcohol.
This episode had laughs in the beginning that tied to the end. They introduced a new product called the Yanket. It’s something you would expect to find at a certain dimly-lit store at your local mall. There were a couple not-so-subtle winks to Scarlett Johansson, including one that insinuated she was so attractive that she was the straightest thing you could think of. It’s not like I can disagree…
Peter and Brian were later caught drinking in a park by a police officer. Once Peter was caught being “underage”, he threw his supplier, Brian, under a bus faster than I would buy a Yanket (as a gag gift, of course). Jay Leno also made a guest appearance as the Mayor of an adjacent Rhode Island town. Dressed in all denim, he…was him.
Sticking to being reckless, Peter and Brian drive straight to Mayor West’s house in order to talk sense into him in regards to the new drinking age. Upon arrival, they find an “underage” Connie holding a glass of wine; a glass of wine that the Mayor, himself, poured for her. Brian realized the hypocrisy in all of this and immediately called the Mayor out on it. Mayor West started bantering about resigning among a scandal and other things that elected officials actually do, while Brian laid out the simple plan of just reversing the new law. These are relevant subtleties that shouldn’t be overlooked, in my eyes.
Sometimes, you may just learn a thing or two from animated shows.
