Review: Bob’s Burgers “The Gene and Courtney Show”
Spoilers Below
Tina is in charge of the Donations for Carnations charity drive. She has a lockbox that contains the cards containing the carnation requests. When Tammy asks Tina how many carnations she received, Tina goes a little crazy. She needs to know if anyone sent her a carnation. Louise helps her break into the lockbox. Alas, no one has sent her any carnations. But now she needs to know who sent Jocelyn four carnations. While Louise goes to steam open the envelopes, Tina tears into the remaining envelopes. Sadly, she didn’t keep the cards and the envelopes together so now she has no idea who sent who carnations. Linda agrees to help Tina match the cards with the envelopes and save the day.
However, before that whole debacle went down, Tina reminded Bob that he was supposed to pre-order 250 carnations for the sale. Of course, Bob completely forgot about it. So now he’s running around town, the week before Valentine’s Day, trying to find 250 carnations. No one has that many available. Teddy tells Bob about the flower warehouse where all of the stores get their flowers. But you are supposed to have a reseller’s license to buy them. Bob slips wholesaler a twenty dollar bill to look the other way and ends up getting gouged with “fees” to get the much needed carnations for Tina. Really, Bob and Linda saved the day.
On Gene’s side of things, the morning announcements are unbearable to listen to. After hearing them making fun of the announcements, Gene and Courtney get invited to do “the rest of the announcements” after Mrs. Schnur finishes with the lunch menu. Things seemed to be going well, at first, but then Gene and Courtney kinda fell in love. This messed up the entire dynamic and their schtick suffered. As a result, Gene broke up with Courtney and the two of them secured their spot in the morning announcements.
But what about Tina? She was upset that no one sent her a carnation, right? Well, it turned out that Jimmy Junior gave her a rose instead. Since she was manning the carnation table the entire time, he didn’t have a chance to buy her one. Aw. Middle school love.
I’m sure everyone remembers the whole carnation thing when they were in middle school. It’s probably the one thing that every school ever has in common. As a girl, there was always that nervousness about whether or not someone bought you a carnation. The boys were probably just as nervous sending their crushes flowers. This episode perfectly summed up the tragedy that is Valentine’s Day as a middle school student. Thankfully, it ended happily for everyone. Yes, even Gene and Courtney’s breakup was a happy one.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
