Ever wanted the chance to name a character from your favorite show?

That is just what the creators of Fugget About It (Canada’s most outrageous animated comedy), made possible when they launched the “Name That Horse” Contest! They handed the creative reins over to their fans and gave them the chance to name one of Regina’s most beloved four legged characters… Horse! For those of you hosers wondering who is this Horse, he is the gallant steed to one of the central characters in the Fugget About It universe—the super suave and uber Canadian mountie, Special Agent Straight McCool!

The Name That Horse contest was a epic undertaking. It launched in April of last year and was broken into three parts:

Part One – The Name Game, Part Two – The Vote, and Part Three – The Reveal.

For Part One – The Name Game, fans were asked to submit their name suggestions for Horse via a contest form online.

The response was overwhelming, with over 600 names submitted! And the entries were both eclectic and hilarious, many of them having a strong Canadiana vibe, such as Poutine, Blizzard, and Maple Syrup! The contest also stirred up some extra spicy controversy on social media amongst the die hard fans, who did not want to see Horse’s name changed from his already given name—Horse!

The Name Game ran for three weeks, after which the show creators convened and went through all the submissions, and then whittled the list down to their top three choices. Those three names would then go on to compete against each other in Part Two of the contest— The Vote!

Voting commenced on May 15th, 2015. Once again Fugget About It fans were called upon for help, but this time they were asked to vote for their favorite name from the top three list: Diefenbaker, Apology and Puckmaker. At the end of the voting period the contestant who’s name suggestion garnered the most votes would then be crowned the ultimate winner and would get to claim not only bragging rights to naming a character on one of Canada’s coolest shows but would ALSO score the insanely awesome grand prize, which included:

• An all expenses paid trip to Toronto

• A private screening with the show creators

• Fugget About It swag bag packed full of awesome loot!

The voting block closed on July 31st, 2015.

Fast forward to present day! Ten months after the launch date, the final part of the Name That Horse contest, The BIG Reveal is here! On Friday February 26th, at 9:30pm, Horse’s new name will finally be spoken on the Horse Springs Paternal episode of Fugget About It, premiering on Adult Swim Canada.

The Winner’s Story:

Though the horse’s name cannot yet be revealed, the winner of the contest can be! Congratulations to James St-Martin, an actor and Fugget About It super fan, reigning all the way from Sudbury, Ontario, for submitting the winning name for Horse! James was contacted in secret, back in early January by the Marketing department at 9 Story Media Group (the production company behind Fuggest About It), and it was only then that he found out he was the grand prize winner of the Name That Horse contest.

On Friday, February 5th, James and his wife Lori were flown into Toronto, all the way from snowy Sudbury to begin their action packed trip to the city! They spent the day being chauffeured around from location to location, in a high end SUV, you know the kind of car Jimmy Falcone would have cruised around NYC in, while he was still Capo.

The first stop on James and Lori’s tour was to check in at the upscale SoHo Metropolitan Hotel, located in the heart of the downtown, where they would be spending the night in one of the hotel’s luxurious suites.

Next stop on the itinerary was 9 Story Media Group, to have a tour of the studio where Fugget About It is produced and
to meet the show’s crew, including co creator Willem Wennekers and director Rich Weston. James and Lori also had a chance to sit down with the show’s animators to see how an episode is put together and learn how the animation process works.

The final stop on their tour was at Spence Thomas Post Audio, where James and Lori got to sit in on what is known as final audio mix for the Horse Springs Paternal episode. This is also where they had their private episode screening with key members of the Fugget About It team, including some very special surprise guests! Both Tony Nappo, voice of Jimmy Falcone and Danny Smith, the voice of Petey Falcone, made surprise appearances at the screening, and James and Lori had a chance to chat with them, while enjoying some fine wine and a delicious array of appetizers.

Once the screening wrapped up, James was presented by the crew with a very prestigious Award of Excellence, for being an Ultimate Fugget About It Fan and the person responsible for naming McCool’s horse!

When asked about his prize experience, James said he had an “awesome time” and the Fugget About It team delivered way “more than he expected”! He went on to say that it was also a really great moment to finally hear his name for Horse revealed on the big screen! And James’ last note was a message to the creators, saying that if they were to ever give a voice to Horse on the show, he was the man for the job—As he has been known to do a great Bullwinkle impression from time to time!

Now all that remains is to wait and find out what Horse’s new name will be! Tune into Adult Swim Canada on Friday, February 26th at 9:30pm where during the Horse Springs Paternal episode the secret will be revealed and the suspense will finally be over!
