BUBBLE CAN Review: Knuckleheads “The Revenge of Jack Curtis”

Knuckleheads continues to surprise and awe. Each week, just when you think you’ve got the show figured out, it flips everything on it’s head and gives you something new. Fun characters, great dialogue and interesting interactions between the characters, all surrounded by simple but effective stories. How was this week’s episode? Read on to find out!

In “The Revenge of Jack Curtis” Jack Curtis wants to kill Santana, the evil villain who murdered his whole family. But after several fruitless attempts, Jack is taken into Mister Wong’s tutelage and becomes a formidable gunslinger.

So how did Knuckleheads change things up this week? Well, it uprooted it’s setting completely, went back in time and gave us a story from the Wild West. Gun slinging, horse riding, revenge seeking action. And for a show that works on a moderate budget, the action in this episode was pretty good. It was helped along by the suspenseful music and tension built by a great story.

There was a lot of story packed into these twenty-two minutes. We met some very interesting characters, got back story for all of them, motivation, and after all of that exposition, the story basically became Karate Kid. An interesting story formula to apply to the Wild West, but one that worked very well.

Taking the show outside of it’s usual setting was a perfect idea. I’ve praised the show for telling the story it wants, but this really takes it to a new level. We put all of the characters we’ve come to know on the shelf for the week and got something completely new. It makes we wonder what else they may have their sleeve for us in the future.

Overall, this was a very strong episode. A great story with better characters, fun interactions, hilarious jokes, and great use of music and tension. This was a very fun watch and if you’ve enjoyed the show so far, there is no reason why this should be any different.
