Review: Adventure Time “The More You Moe, the Moe You Know”

Spoilers Below

It’s BMO’s birthday! And both Jake and Finn have plans for their cool friend, but then Moe shows up as a robot and puts BMO on a mission…a very SPECIAL mission. While BMO leaves, Finn, Jake, and Moe are just hanging out, but Moe is kind of a dick robot. He constantly complains, only has one game, and tries to frame NEPTR for a crime.

Meanwhile, BMO heads to the factory in which he was built and right away notices something is wrong and even gets tricked to stand on a trap door that leads to a chipper. Fortunately, BMO makes it through OK and meets All Mos. All Mos is a combination of all the robots sent down the garbage as scrap and is pretty much trapped down there because the only way out is too high up. This is where BMO comes in, as it’s able to scurry through the vent and end up in a room belonging to AMO. When BMO tells All Mos about Finn and Jake’s new visitor, we find out that trouble could be waiting in the wings.

Moe reveals himself to being AMO, a robot that was built by Moe that is actually BMO’s little brother. AMO tells us that Moe has actually passed away, and his last request was for AMO to back up Moe’s hard drive and sent it into space. AMO had other ideas and instead decided to use the hard drive to take over the factory. BMO shows up and a battle ensues that leads up to a cliff, and despite AMO’s firepower, BMO is able to gain the upper hand and knock his brother off the mountain.

Our Take

This week’s episode of Adventure Time was nothing short of fantastic. The mythos surrounding AMO, BMO, Moe, and whatnot is just so well written and thought out that I couldn’t help but be impressed. Jake was hilarious too with his one-liners about old people and his last words being to BMO, “Sorry your birthday was so weird!”.

I actually think this whole plot could’ve been made into a movie, there’s a lot here that went down that has pretty interesting consequences down the road. What happens to All Mos now? Is BMO truly the last of its kind? Is AMO really dead?

Too bad we got the last episode of the year, but if I wanted to end the year on a high note, this is how I’d do it.
