Review: Regular Show “Benson’s Pig”

Spoilers Below

Benson gets a pig named Applesauce and asks Mordecai and Rigby to “Pig- Sit” while he attends meetings. Turns out, the pig isn’t who he says he is because he gets arrested after robbing a donut shop. As a result, Mordecai and Rigby have to go down to the station and try and convince Low-Fives to let their boss’ pig free or they’re fired. Before they can even finish their thought. AppleSauce breaks out of prison and frees a prisoner named Roughauser, a former partner in crime of his. Everyone flees the scene and ends up back at Benson’s apartment.

As expected, the cops show up and shoot up the apartment, but Roughauser turns himself in to the police. Applesauce (formerly known as Leroy) opts to live the normal live instead of his criminal pursuit. Benson gets home, and now Mordecai and Rigby have some explaining to do.

Our Take

I hear pigs are good pets. In any case, I love when the producers of Regular Show give their new characters such crazy back-end stories. Moreover, Roughauser was hilarious trying to destroy everything with his own fists for no reason. Episodes that feature Mordecai and Rigby actually trying to do the right thing are usually comedy gold, and that’s exactly the case here. Watching Applesauce commit all these crimes, break his dude out of prison, all the while sporting a tattoo was so good. I would have liked to have seen if Benson keeps the pig and yells at the guys, but this pig is cooked.
