Review: Adventure Time “Stakes” ; “Take Her Back”

Marcy’s down for the count – from the scorpion sting in “May I Come In?” – and she’s trippin on the venom. Her semi-lucid dreams degrade into nightmarish hell-scarps, but not before shedding some light on her background.

Back in Ooo, PB rushes Marceline’s unconscious body to Pep But’s poison lab in the castle. Finn and Jake follow moon pearls to a mummy job’s mummy-job floating on a pontoon. The two can’t remember if PB said, “you guys stake her back” or “you guys take her back.” The sun drops before they can remember and Jake has to put his deli-tray on the line in order to out run the creepiest vamps thus far.

Pep’s anti-venom approach is slightly less than scientific, and everyone’s slightly less than capable of handling the Moon. Except Pep But, he’s stone cold.

After yesterday’s harsh words, I came into both “May I Come In?” and “Take Her Back” with a bad taste in my mouth. But both episodes exemplify how awesome this miniseries can be; they complement each other, but they can each stand on their own.
