DVD Review: ‘Regular Show: The Movie’
We’re not going to bore you with details about Regular Show: The Movie itself – partially because the awesome details wouldn’t bore you, but mostly because we already reviewed it here.
That being said, what’s the right format on which to buy it?
Personally, I don’t geek out too much with bonus features unless I really love the show. When it came to The Simpsons DVDs (RIP), I couldn’t get enough of whatever they could possibly throw at the viewer. When The Simpsons is on in my living room (or my life in general), no one talks over it. But the folks who actually make the show, they can chat during it all they want, and I’ll eagerly listen. Point is, if you really dig Regular Show, here is something to get you salivating:
A total of 13 deleted animatics, showing rough sketches of what almost made it into the film, as well as eight movie animatics for the stuff that actually did. You also get seven original board pitches, with JG Quintel himself presenting, the original movie trailer, and concept art and movie art galleries.
For fans of all levels, this is a real goldmine. The Regular Show folks clearly put a lot of time and effort into the content of their special features, and added a crap ton of each kind.
Other than recording outtakes, there’s really not much more one could ask for. Unless you’re a fan of commentary. Oh wait, the DVD also contains commentary from creator JG Quintel and producer Sean Szeles.
Did I mention there’s a really great film included too?
If you’re thinking of purchasing Regular Show: The Movie in some capacity, you really should go for the DVD. If you want a mobile version, I understand, but for home viewing you really can’t go wrong with it. And for only $12, it’s practically a steal. What other new release could you get for that price?
It doesn’t even matter, because you can’t put a price on happiness.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
