Star Wars Rebels Season 2 gets premiere date and time for Disney XD
Disney XD has announced that Star Wars Rebels Season Two will premiere WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14 (9:30 p.m., ET/PT). I mentioned the other day that Disney XD has been bulking up in content, and one of the things that I’ve noticed is that they are definitely playing around with schedules and almost ‘vertical-izing’ their nights of the week.
You may recall last year that Star Wars Rebels typically premiered new episodes on Monday Nights with Kirby Buckets and a number of animated sitcoms. Since then, Kirby has moved to Wednesday Nights which has almost become the unofficial ‘live-action’ night with Monday Night ramping up comedy. Tuesday Nights, Spider-Man looked to be almost a litmus test for action-animated series’, but with Guardians of the Galaxy and the aforementioned Spider-Man getting Saturday Night slots for September, that seems to have changed.
Enter Star Wars Rebels. There has already been talk of a second Star Wars animated series, so could Wednesday be the unofficial Star Wars night? The live-action shows would certainly have to move to a different night starting in October, so we could be looking at a legit five-night a week lineup for Disney XD by the time January rolls around.
In “Star Wars Rebels” Season Two, past lives will be revealed and the destiny of our heroes will be changed forever. The transformative new season resumes with Imperial oppression on Lothal growing stronger and the rebels seeking out new allies and additional resources to sustain their fight against the evil Empire. With the help of Ahsoka Tano, the crew of the Ghost enlists some old friends: ex-clone troopers who fought in the Clone Wars. As the rebels grow in number, so do their enemies. New Inquisitors are dispatched by Darth Vader and sent to crush any threat of rebellion. Through dangerous rescue missions, thrilling space chases, and spectacular lightsaber duels – the bond of our rebel crew will be put to the test like never before.
