David Tennant joins ‘Chew’ cast

I had no idea that Robin Williams was going to be in Chew, so that kind of sucks that we won’t be able to see that come to fruition, but The Hollywood Reporter has noted that David Tennant (Dr. Who) has officially joined the voice cast for the Image Comics animated series adaptation.

For those that don’t know, Chew centers on a detective (Yeun) who is a “cibopath,” a person who gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats, and is set in a world where bird meats are illegal after bird flu killed millions of Americans. (Day is his love interest, a food critic who can write about food so precisely the reader actually feels like they are tasting it.)

Tennant will be voicing the role of Mason Savoy, the detective’s former mentor whom is now the villain. Turns out, Williams’ death halted production of Chew which I think is totally allowed because Robin Williams is a life force in every project that he takes part in. In any case, I am not familiar with any of Tennant’s work, so I can’t really comment if this is good casting or not, so we’ll have to wait and see.
