Comics Review: Adventure Time: Marceline Gone Adrift #3

jan151184

Well, the intro kind of speaks for itself. Marceline finally found a place to relax after getting shot into space in issue one, and Bubblegum is still living with the guilt of shooting Marcy out of Ooo. So, she does what any great scientific mind would do. Bubblegum built a space ship to find Marceline. There’s one small problem, though. I don’t think Peebles knows where Marcy is.

The plot is rather light with issue three, with Finn getting his story moving forward the most, thanks to Suspencer. That’s a little bit of a stretch, though, because nothing really moved forward this month. It was just a lateral move to get to the next chapter. I guess it works, but I was expecting more. However, there is one page that just slays me. Marcy is on what looks like a moon, with a huge text bubble, and the only thing the text bubble says is “[Infinity of Expletives].” I’m staring at the page now, and I am chuckling.

That said, issue three felt like a stall overall. I was expecting more from Marcy’s story, because she is out in space. We haven’t heard a peep from her since before she was full of electricity, and getting shot into space by Princess Bubblegum. There was more with Finn and Peebles, so there should have been a lot more than just Marcy storming off after getting pissed off at some record executive. “Marceline Gone Adrift” number three could have been a lot better, but I feel slighted in the end.
