Seattle Seahawks Players Bonded Over ‘Family Guy’

FG Football

It’s official: the Super Bowl XLIX matchup will feature the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. The Hawks will attempt to become repeat champions, after winning last year and carrying the team’s talent and chemistry into this season.

Speaking of chemistry, two of the team’s safeties, Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor, have forged an especially strong friendship since their collective rookie seasons back in 2010. However, they didn’t hit it off right away, but eventually bonded over their opinions on a particular cartoon.

“The first time I met him he was in a hotel watching Family Guy,” Thomas said of Chancellor. “That was kind of awkward because all I did was watch SportsCenter back then.”

“He called me weird for watching Family Guy,” Chancellor said. “I like Family Guy. There’s a lot of humor to it. You’ve got to be a person with an open mind, though. You’ve got to like to hear jokes and stuff like that. So I told him he was uptight.”

Take notes, boys and girls, because this is a good test for future potential friends. Show them a series like Family Guy (the prime seasons), The Simpsons, or South Park, and if they don’t think it’s funny, ditch their asses. Or something, I don’t know, maybe that’s not the moral here.

“We actually clicked day one,” Chancellor added. “We just starting talking, from him calling me weird and me calling him uptight. I guess it was us being honest with each other, and it just came a long way. I guess if you’re honest with a person long enough, you begin to gain a certain respect from the person.”

Okay, so there you have it: honesty is what really brings people together.

…And I suppose Family Guy gets an assist on the play, too.
