Review: Lucas Bros. ”Lucas Burgers”
Spoilers Below
The brothers Lucas are good at getting tickets on their van and not being able to pay them…like the Jedi masters of the trade. So, when Jake the Snake comes to slap a boot on their van, the duo needs to find a way to pay back their violations so as to get their moving company on the road again. They do this in the form of a food truck selling burgers out the back of their van. Problem is, the food truck game in Brooklyn is turf-controlled, and the guys have to pay a tax to ‘Uncle Taco’. Eventually, the guys make enough money to get out of the food business and back into the moving business, but the only way they can leave the business altogether is by racing Uncle Taco. Kenny and Keef win, but only after Uncle Taco goes back to the future! Meanwhile, the moving company, goes back to MAYBE doing any work today.
Typically, I would talk of how tired I am from food truck and racing ideas because they happen all the time nowadays, but the Lucas Bros. do just enough to make these races their own. Not sure if you know this, but back in the 1970s, Brooklyn really did have food carts that were not so much mafia-owned, but the food business owners certainly were told where they were allowed to park and do business. So, I don’t know if the writers knew that, but kudos to them either way because the background for the episode is actually fairly accurate. I don’t know a lot about Action Bronson, but he played a pretty great Uncle Taco, helping show case both a terrifying but ridiculous looking character that I think we haven’t seen the last of due to the Back to the Future finish of the Fast and Furious food truck race. All the truck names were fun, but the best scene of the whole episode was near the end when there was this serious take on the close-ups of Kenny and Keef’s faces. This capped off what was an otherwise grandiose directed effort that could be one of the block’s finest episodes yet.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
