Archer Season Six was almost something else entirely
Recently, Entertainment Weekly ran a report where they interviewed Archer creator Adam Reed. Turns out, Archer’s sixth season almost took another deviation from the spy game as it would have seen the team formerly known as ISIS locked up in prison. According to the story:
“It was an offhand comment by someone,” says Reed of the idea to put Archer & co. behind bars. “We sat down and talked about it and were laughing about it, and instantly story ideas were spilling out. Then some wet blanket said, ‘Well, you know, it’s going to seem like we’re ripping off Orange Is the New Black.’ It just sucked all the air out of the room.”
Whoever that wet blanket is, I hope he/she is feeling better about themselves at the moment, because I would’ve really liked to have seen this idea get fleshed out. I’ve never even seen Orange is the New Black so if there were a bunch of jokes similar to that series, I wouldn’t even get the references. Archer Vice was a rather daring take on the franchise that ultimately paid off, seeing Sterling and Co. continue some of those dares would be very interesting. Then again, what would have been made of Lana’s baby? And I can’t imagine four walls keeping Krieger in a cell…no chance.
To Matt and the producers of Archer, how about for season seven?
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
