Sea People: A ‘South Park’ Song-Covering Punk Band!
Sure, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Bob’s Burgers have released some fantastic music over their collective years, but if you were starting a punk band based on a cartoon show’s tunes, South Park would probably be the best starting point.
The series’ songs are edgy, poignant, witty, and very funny, and Philadelphia-based musicians Sea People have used their blueprint to form a curious cover band whose name even comes from a South Park episode – season 6’s installment “Simpsons Already Did It.”
In addition to covering Cartman’s “Sea People” song from that show, the band also performs “Sexual Harassment Panda,” “Girl That I Like,” “Up There,” and even BASEketball‘s “Warts on Your Dick.”
With a seemingly-endless catalogue of possible ditties to re-imagine, Sea People clearly have their work cut out for them. Especially during the current holiday season, when “A Lonely Jew on Christmas” and “Merry Fucking Christmas” would make for perfect listening.
And of course I also can’t wait for their interpretation of Trey and Matt’s interpretation of Randy Marsh’s interpretation of Lorde from the most recent season. Listen to it here.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
