Trading Spaces

After Leela outshines Zapp on a recent mission to space, Nixon opts to tap Leela as the new captain of the Nimbus leaving Zapp without a job. At first, Leela does a fantastic job as the new captain stopping bad things from happening all over the place, but when Tricky Dick offers to give her an award, the success goes to her head. As a result, Leela gets complacent and starts looking AND acting like the captain of old that we all know and love.

Meanwhile, Zapp comes on board Planet Express as the new pilot, but opts to try and get his job back instead. After an alarming phone call from Kif, Zapp comes to save Leela from doing something astoundingly deadly, and as such Leela and Zapp go back to their original posts.

The one thing I didn’t like about this issue of Futurama Comics is that whenever we get a wide shot of the ships, it’s sometimes difficult to tell who is saying what. That said, this issue was nothing short of fantastic. With odes to Fantastic Four, Halo, Atari, and others, E-Rog put together a script that was smart, funny, and full of space hi-jinx that certainly lends itself for a buy.
