Review: Regular Show “Real Date”
Mordecai finally takes CJ on a real date. Find out what shenanigans happens after the jump!
Yeah, there’s probably going to be SPOILERS!
I knew “Real Date” was going to be an obvious date episode, but I was surprised at the slight nod the ending took. More on that later.
The threat of overzealous dating site CEO’s is real. That was the driving force of the episode, because an episode without a protagonist would have been your normal, boring date episode. I really dug the CEO, because he is like any site when you cancel your subscription. I’m looking forward to the constant nagging from the WWE Network in a few weeks.
The basic synopsis is that CJ and Mordecai have never had a real date. Eileen and Rigby push them into having one. They each have their own plans to make it real, but the plans keep changing. So, they end up having to get Eileen and Rigby to help out. Meanwhile, the constant badgering from the Couple’s Corral owner is begging Mordecai to break up with CJ and rejoin the site. The ending has Rigby either fully enamored with the waffle cake, or Eileen found a way into Rigby’s heart, and that’s through his stomach.
Like I said, without the Couple’s Corral guy, this episode would have been dreadfully boring. I say that, because when the owner wasn’t on screen, My attention couldn’t be held. However, it was ingenious to weave a way to keep Eileen and Rigby in the episode, especially with that payoff at the end. That’s only the second thing keeping me watching “Real Date.”
I can’t really say that there is much to this season finale. I was expecting more of from it, considering there won’t be a new episode until September. “Real Date” had me feeling like Regular Show was limping into the finale, and subsequently, into September for the premiere. Hopefully it comes back with a vengeance, because Regular Show needs it.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
