Grunge Rock Gets The 8-Bit Treatment And It Couldn’t Be Prettier!
I really started branching out into my own musical world around the same time grunge really hit the mainstream. Mind you, I still chose Metallica as my home base over bands like STP and Nirvana, but I really enjoyed them. Their influence on music is obvious and will never be forgotten. But what set grunge apart most of all wasn’t the counterculture or the tuning on the guitars but the simplicity of the music that really shined through. Yes there were solos and some complex changes but for the most part grunge was a four-piece band that wanted to let you know how much everything sucked. And what better way to make us all remember that by putting together an homage video using an animation style similar to the grunge way of thinking? Yup, I’m talking 8-bit animation.
The crew at Filthy Frackers did just that by mashing up some pretty iconic music videos from the era and giving them the full 8-bit treatment. I’ve watched this video 10 times and I can honestly say it’s one of my favorites that I’ve ever reviewed. They even used the old NES musical tuning to create the music in such a lo-fi and beautiful way. So click the video below and get ready to take a stroll down memory lane in both a visual and audio sense!

Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
