All Def Digital gets funding….Is TV next?
All Def Digital (aka the home of popular animated web series’ such as Counterfit and B-Rock) has just secured a new round of financing according to a new report from Deadline.com. The new round of funding is on the tune of $5 million with the money being used for a number of different ways:
Simmons said the company would use the additional capital to accelerate growth, enhance artist- and talent-development initiatives and finance original programming in comedy, music, news and poetry. Those are the areas where it already has largely been creating shows and series for distribution on YouTube and beyond since its launch nearly a year ago as a multi-channel network. The company’s stars have included music acts such as Spoken Reasons and Odd Future, who each have done web series.
The lesson I am taking from this is, that this new round of funding could open the doors for not only more animated shows on ADD’s Youtube Channel, but maybe the hip hop mogul will begin producing animated content for TV networks? Russell Simmons has GREAT producing histories with networks such as HBO and BET, so an animated produced for TV with the ADD tag isn’t outside the realm of possibility.
Tell us, what’s your favorite Simmons production in the comments below!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
