Merch Murmurs: The Only Shoes to Wear When Doing “The Bartman”

Converse has teamed up with The Simpsons once again to build a home for your feet, this time featuring the image of Bart’s superhero alter-ego, Bartman, on classic high-top Chuck Taylors.

I’m not one to get excited over shoes. You won’t see me posting kick pics or anticipating the “hottest” new releases. And you’ll definitely never find me waiting in the crowd outside a store on the day they come out, because I hate lines, large groups of people, and the ever-present risk of getting shot over something I put on my sweaty hobbit feet and drag around the dirty city sidewalks.

Even when I first spotted these babies (available now at Journeys & Converse stores) I thought: no way. Like the three Simpsons-inspired Converse designs that dropped last summer, I viewed them as too loud, too flashy, and even a bit corny. But upon further inspection, these struck me differently. They were slightly less kiddie than their predecessors (despite still being cartoons), slightly more artistic, and slightly more aggressive. So I starting thinking, well, I do really love The Simpsons & Bartman. And Converse sneakers have always been a solid standard for me. Plus, $60 isn’t too bad, relatively speaking, right?

And just like that, I found my new work shoes.
