Joan Rivers to star in new animated series!
Joan Rivers really is one of the funniest stand up comediennes and has blazed trails for women working in comedy for the better part of the last 40 or so years. Yet, here she is, 2014, and still going. Last month I was listening to The Howard Stern Show and Joan was on there and she had me laughing my ass off. She also has a bunch of TV shows where she continues to dominate the E! Network week after week, and now she has a new animated series on the way that looks just as funny as anything she’s done.
The series is called FASHIONISTA & GLAMOUR GIRL and it stars Joan Rivers who voices the character Roxanne Bischoff, a crotchety seamstress for a cosmopolitan Manhattan department store who sneaks into her lair at night and becomes superhero Fashionista. The pilot co-stars actress/recording star Christina Milian (Love Don’t Cost a Thing/Be Cool) as the shy-by-day stock room girl and glam-by-night side-kick Glamour Girl. According to the Youtube page, the series has a fun-filled cast that includes:
• French Stewart (Third Rock from the Sun) — as Mr. Worthe, the pompous fussbudget who runs the ladies’ couture floor and has no idea that his employee Roxanne is the fashion world’s best kept secret.
• Michael Urie (Ugly Betty) — as Roxanne’s scruffy pet Maltese, Killer, who transforms into Splendido, the purebred stylist, with big talent and a bigger attitude.
• Melissa Rivers (Joan & Melissa) — as super-villain Bangs who dedicates her life to foiling designers and couture devotees everywhere.
• Seth Rudetsky (Seth’s Big Fat Broadway, SiriusXM Radio) — as the bitter Stole, Bang’s pet fox she keeps around her neck and her only ally.
• Susie Essman (Curb Your Enthusiasm) — as Diane Von Furstenberger, one of many celebrities in peril who call on Fashionista for help.
• Lisa Rinna (Days of our Lives/Melrose Place) — as a sexy trophy wife.
• Fred A. Stella (Listen Up Award winner) — as the snarky narrator.
The series pilot starts up on May 15th on the official Youtube channel for the series and you can check out a sneak peek below.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
