Ratings Are In: Simpsons post lowest overnight in history, but should we be worried?

I’m guessing as a result of a WonderCon bump, Bob’s Burgers came back STRONG on Sunday Night for FOX, unfortunately the same can’t be said for The Simpsons which suffered its lowest overnight numbers in a while according to Deadline:

With everyone fielding a team for the first time in two weeks, on Fox the animation-heavy night started on fire. Coming off a series low on Easter Sunday last week, Bob’s Burgers (0.8/3) had a massive surge of 83% in the adults 18-49 demo. That remarkable rise was followed by American Dad (1.2/4), which grew 9% from its last original April 13. The Simpsons (1.5/5) unfortunately did not get the same benefit, suffering a 12% drop from its last original two weeks ago. There were young lovers on the run on last night’s Family Guy(2.1/6) and the not-always best of pals Jerome and Peter had to find them; the episode was even with its last original.

So should fans of The Simpsons be worried? No, because as Entertainment Weekly pointed out, the 1.5 number is still the highest number among adults as compared to other programming at the same time. I personally think consistency is the bigger deal here, keep airing new episodes instead of reruns and I think the show should be fine. FOX is already starting a decent campaign promoting the LEGO/Simpsons cross-over so that should help.

Animation Domination is all-new this Sunday Night on FOX @ 7 pm ET/PT, check your local listings!
