Shorts Review: Otaku Taco Truck “MUSHROOM ATTACK PART 2”

Continuing from Part 1, Swiss, Kwala and Mari are high as kites as they defend the “Land of Otaku” from the approaching chef ninjas. They squish heads, cut off arms, legs and form the most deep of friendships through their hundred-year war. But then the wake up and are told by the pedo ice cream seller that their oven was stolen which rightly kicks off the series’ main conflict.

Otaku Taco Truck, I know you are trying with all this creative imagery and all that but it’s not working. Sure, I can say that comparing all the episodes thus far this has the “best” a.k.a. most interesting animation to offer but these characters have such barely defined personalities their jokes and one liners come off as silted and let’s be honest, dull. Even though this is far too late coming here’s just my advice to the writers of Otaku Taco Truck if they somehow get a second season. Make Otaku taco Truck an episodic series.

Their attempt at serializing the story just falls flat, as none of the characters have been built up enough to make the audience care about their struggle. Either add more episodic episodes to help with fleshing out the characters themselves, or allow time in the serialization for character development. Without this sort of fix I can’t see most people sticking around when the series is over.

So yeah, didn’t like this episode.
