Brian Henson, Chairman of The Jim Henson Company and son of Jim Henson, recently took part in a Reddit AMA and although his main goal was to talk up his new Syfy show Creature Show, but he was able to give us some good updates on projects we’ve been writing about the last couple years that maybe we haven’t heard from in a while. For starters the most recent attempt was a game show based in the UK called That Puppet Game Show that we actually reviewed and did not like, and more so would eventually be cancelled:

It was a great show, wasn’t it? But I guess in the end, Britain wanted their live-action Saturday night game shows.

Of all the projects that Henson Alternative has on the table, Happytime Murders was the most fascinating. Unfortunately, the update on that series is just not good:

Happytime Murders is one of my favorite projects but you wouldn’t believe how hard it is to get a rated-R film-noir puppet movie greenlit to production. But I’ll keep swinging as long as my arms can swing!

Brian also gave an update on his traveling show Puppet Up and yes from the sounds of it the live-show is coming back to California but according to the official website, nothing else has been booked:

I loved putting the show up at the Kirk Douglas Theater in Culver City, and I hope we’ll be back there in July. The show is off to Australia for six weeks in the meantime.

Brian stuck around for a bunch longer for the AMA and he brought a lot of good insight on the advent of CG and how that business affects the puppet-effects business. Me, personally, I don’t know if Where the Wild Things Are could be CG nor could I see the Hulk being a puppet in The Avengers.
