Review: Wild Grinders – “The League Of Xtraordinary Sk8ers” And “Wild Grinders, Assemble!”

The League Of Xtraordinary Sk8ers-  

Lil Rob starts off the show on top of a crazy high ramp and says he wants to do a “redonkulous” trick so he skates down the ramp and tricks over a donkey twice. He then vows that when he gets famous he’s gonna have a TV show and call it “Redonkulessness.” This news causes the donkey to crow. Ironic? Let’s continue.

The world loves Rob’s latest trick. We then transition over to a gigantic skate arena where Todd Topdeck and his League of Xtraordinary Sk8ers are finishing a performance to an empty audience. The League is excited to be skating for a living, but not to the empty stands, so they all quit. They say Rob is revolutionary and his video is so popular that it crashes the entire Internet! (We’ve done that before, right JB???) Rob’s sister is going through technology withdrawals when Todd Busts through the kitchen wall with a bulldozer, looking for Rob. You’d think by doing that this would cause Todd to be considered a villain, but instead he offers Rob a chance to be a member of the Xtraordinary Sk8ers.The Grinders show up at the empty arena and are greeted by Todd, who is now playing the role of valet, ticket taker and usher. After seating the Grinders he begins the show but Lil Rob cuts him off asking where the crowd is. Todd says he’s been having difficulty putting butts in the seats. Rob lets Todd know that since he’s now a member of the Sk8ers Todd is also an official Wild Grinder and that he should never give up on his dreams. We then get a montage of the Grinders promoting an event while Goggles designs a new stunt, which involves tearing the roof off of the arena and the use of rocket boards! The place fills to the rafters as the duo skate to glory. Stubford appears in an Iron Man suit in the as Todd and Rob fly through the sky, into space and through a wormhole where they meet The Grinder Of Oz. The Grinder Of Oz tells them that they shouldn’t worry about the crowd and just enjoy the skating. He then launches them back to Earth and into giant buckets of FroYo. Rob is enlightened by his trip and says he’ll always skate for the love of the craft from here on out.

 

Wild Grinders, Assemble!-  

The Grinders show crash into their favorite FroYo spot and Rob is instantly called out on his boring choice in flavors. The waitress asks the gang if they’d like to try a new flavor that is so diabolical that they have to have a trained brain freeze technician on site just for the challenge. Of course the Grinders are up for the challenge. Every member of the Grinders catches an immediate case of brain freeze and are kicked out of the store. Goggles then tries to develop a way to counteract the effects of the brain freeze. The rays from his heat wave Goggles developed bounce off of an alien space ship and cause them to ascend onto Earth and attack. Rob sweet talks the aliens into not incinerating the Earth but accidentally wreck the alien space ship. The punishment for such offense is a giant robot fight, apparently. Goggles is commissioned to build a Voltron-like skateboard robot to fight the aliens. The robots battle in the streets. Stubford shows up and wants to help the Grinders, but is quickly captured by the aliens. Rob convinces the aliens that Stubford is their king and offers to trade Stubford for Earth’s most precious object: FroYo. The FroYo freezes the alien’s heads into ice blocks as the Grinders get back to skating.
