‘Kirby Buckets’ gets picked up by Disney XD

Deadline is reporting that Disney XD has just picked up a brand-new series called Kirby Buckets starring Jacob Bertrand. You may remember that we first wrote about this series last year mainly because Beavis and Butthead alum Kris Brown was a part of it and we now know will be executive producer. According to the article:

The series is about a kid who dreams of being the biggest animator in the world. Bertrand stars as the title character, who sees his drawings take shape as he and his best friends, Fish (Mekai Curtis) and Eli (Cade Sutton), go on outrageous adventures.

”We know that our Disney XD audience has a strong affinity for animated programming, so we are looking forward to presenting a live-action series told through the eyes of a boy that shares that same passion,” said Adam Bonnett, EVP, Original Programming, Disney Channel.

I disagree. Disney XD’s history with prime time animated programming is suspect to say the least, as a matter of fact the Disney Channel does a much better job of doing this so  it will be interesting to see if Adam surrounds this series with a bunch of quality animated programming to support his claim.
