This can’t be as bad as issue one, can it? Find out after the jump!

“Idol Hands”

Be still, my heart! I found something from this abomination that I can get behind! This story is a complete rip of your stereotypical American Idol-esque show. Starfire gets the idea of signing up the team for the show after watching it. Raven appeals to Robin about doing this, but she loses out to the crush Robin has on Starfire. They train for a week, only to ditch it all when the Brotherhood of Evil compete as well. After the battle, the judges critique the fight, with Darkseid as Simon Cowell. After getting her fashion ripped apart by Darkseid, Raven sends the judges to the Netherworld, filled with cats. Darkseid finds it rather comfy.

“Cold Blooded”

Did you ever wonder what would happen if Captain Cold ever caught someone with his freeze gun? Well, Robin found out the hard way. The Titans get him out, but of course, he has a cold. The team forces him to get bed rest, until the alarm goes off. They get him into bed…the Ultimate Battle Bed! That idea floated until Beast Boy popped his tires. When they get back, Starfire gets grossed out when an even sicker Robin asks for a hug. Cyborg gets Beast Boy to shrink down with a communicator, and Beast Boy goes inside Robin to fight the cold. In his travels, he gets sucked into Robin’s heart, stepped on his brain, and found Batman’s communicator in Robin’s foot. He finds the virus. But like an idiot, uses his powers to expand bigger than a microbe, and kills the virus. However, he breaks Robin’s arm. When Robin wakes up, Beast Boy gets him to believe he’s in the future with 3 different types of dessert pizza.

Reading this issue wasn’t as much of a chore as it was for issue one. “Idol Hands” actually did have me laughing, because we all know Simon Cowell is Darkseid in disguise. I know I gave a lot of crap with Riddler in the last issue, but we all know Darkseid is an elitist prick, and this actually fit in that regard whereas Riddler  just seemed jammed in there the last time out. With the exception of the Ultimate Battle Bed, I can see “Cold Blooded” being a loose interpretation of a plot on the old Teen Titans, so that has it going for it. I was actually happy to see Captain Cold actually hit someone for a change, especially Robin. There are a few things, however, that kept killing the flow. The Battle Bed was redundant, especially if he was going to stay home, anyway. If he had the bed, let him use it. For next issue, can we get Terra, please?
