English Dub Review: Space Dandy: “Sometimes You Can’t Live Without Dying, Baby”
I think this is the episode where Dandy meets The Walking Dead.
Spoilers Below
The gang is debating on what their latest catch is. It may be a Stiltonian, but the color is off, and bites Meow. They don’t realize it’s not as it seems. Within hours, Meow seems very sick. Meow is so bad, he just gasps and groans. They bring Meow to a hospital, where he’s admitted. Dr. Gel get a visit from some mercenaries from Admiral Perry, for some assistance getting Dandy. Meow finally awakes, and bites the nurses’s head. The next day, Dandy and QT show up, to see the hospital overrun with the walking dead. Dandy is cornered, when the mercs show up to capture him. This leads to him running.
QT gets smart, deducing they’re zombies. Gel gets bit, leaving Dandy and QT alive. Qt also figures out that the Stiltonian was the patient zero. After using QT as a battering ram, Dandy almost gets bit by a zombified QT. Dandy makes it to the helipad. He gets on the helicopter, only to get bit by a zombified pilot.
The first half of this was funny. Dandy playing the oblivious idiot did a lot of good, because the jokes played off of that very well. Unfortunately, this turned into “A Tale of Two Allies.” The second half of the episode is just weird. It sure as hell isn’t the good weird either. It’s like a documentary on the unlife of the Aloha-Oe crew. They talk to the stiltonian, and they get some pointers on zombie unlife. By the end of the episode, the world ends up zomibified, and the crew got to lead their normal lives, at about 1/4 speed.
This episode tanked after the commercial break. What could have been made into a fantastic ending, gets squandered into potential talent. The second half was a boring mockumentary of Zombies on the Aloha-Oe. This is what happens when writers run out of steam, and mail in the second half of the episode. You can be done with this episode before the commercial, and miss absolutely nothing by watching something else.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
