Review: Family Guy ‘Brian’s a Bad Father’
Spoilers Below
In the eleventh episode of this not too shabby twelfth season, we see Dylan, Brian’s son, make a return. After years of neglect, Brian learns that Dylan has been casted on a television show and talks him into getting him a job. Meanwhile, Peter shoots Quagmire in the arm during a hunting trip. The act proves to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for their friendship.
This episode had plenty of great jokes and it was interesting seeing the return of Dylan. From beginning till end, I was cracking up. Brian’s arrogance throughout the episode was so extreme and made me think of some people in my own life who act in similar ways. If you saw tonight’s episode, I’m sure you can think of at least one person in your own life who acted similarly to Brian! Also, the petty arguments with Peter and Quagmire throughout the episode were hilarious. Even Meg had a few shining moments this episode! The final gag of the episode between Peter and Lois was one of my favourites of the season so far. It was a fun episode filled with great cut-aways and even Liam Neeson guest starred.
A problem I had with the episode was the lack of screen time given to Chris. While he may be my least favourite of the Griffin family, I always enjoy seeing him, nonetheless. The episode had nothing to do with him, so it’s just a small complaint. Seth Green also voiced Dylan, so maybe the workload of two characters wasn’t ideal at the time. I also wish that there was more of an emphasis on Joe this episode. Joe being torn between his two friends wasn’t touched on as much as I would have liked, I also feel this would have been a good story arc to have a Cleveland cameo.
Overall, ‘Brian’s a Bad Father’ was very funny. There were a couple of gags directed at older audience members that also simultaneously poked fun at the younger viewers. As you’d expect in any Brian focused episode, there were also a fair amount of funny jokes by Stewie. I also hope we see Dylan again in the future. It’s nice that Family Guy doesn’t forget about its characters from episodes past. I think this episode will be worth half an hour of your time.
How did all of you enjoy the episode? Enjoy the return of Dylan? What other characters would you like to see come back? Let us know below and have a great week!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
