REVIEW: American Dad ‘Vision Impossible’

Happy new year to all!
We’re back with the Smith’s in the new year and it is Roger’s …. “birthday”, but not really. Roger explains that the only time he feels he can get the family to do anything fun or exciting is on his birthday, but they refuse. Meanwhile, Hayley adopts a raccoon and named him “Cuddles”. Out for a drive Roger decides to pose for a stop-light camera on his hood. His fun time is unfortunately interrupted by a speeding truck and he is hospitalized.
As he awakes from a coma and is checked on by the doctor, he begins to have visions of the future about the people around him. Back at home Roger begins having visions about all of the members of the family, including a violent image of the Safety Museum. As luck would have it, Roger’s vision of the future comes to fruition and an angry lady begins to shoot up the museum leading to fires, among other things. Ironically, this Safety Museum isn’t very safe as it lacks escape doors and fire alarms. Thankfully, Roger comes to the rescue and uses his knowledge of the future to save the family, thus proving to them all that he could indeed see the future.
Now knowing Roger’s abilities, the family begins to exploit him for their own personal gain. It’s fun for Roger at first but it gets old quick. An annoyed Roger leaves the house telling the family that if they left the house, they would all die. Out for a drive an unlucky Roger ends up in another accident and is once again hospitalized. Waking up to a sassy nurse, Roger tries to see into her future, but fails. His powers are officially gone. At the hospital we come across John Quad once again, not playing an important role to the story but it was pretty funny nonetheless. Returning home to the family, Roger finds out that nobody had left in over three weeks. Roger tells the family to leave the house out of annoyance and the family witnesses a group of birds getting electrocuted in the front yard. The family rushes back indoors where they learn that Roger had lost his powers.
Hearing noises downstairs, the family begins to investigate. They find that Hayley’s raccoon, Cuddles, had gotten into Steve’s supply of protein powder and has spent weeks getting ripped. Cuddles attacks and the Smith’s escape to the upstairs washroom. Telling the family not to live in fear, the Smith’s go confront Cuddles. After getting hit on the head, Cuddles has a dark vision of the future and runs out of the house where he is also electrocuted in the same power-wire infested puddles where the birds had died earlier.
‘Vision Impossible’ proved to be a pretty enjoyable episode. I was laughing throughout the entire time, especially at the Safety Museum. There were a lot of funny jokes there. The story held my attention and I couldn’t shake the smile from my face. Roger is one of my favorite characters on the show, so I’m always happy when episodes revolve around him. The episode was also cleverly concluded using a forgettable plot device introduced in the first two minutes of the episode (Cuddles).
Some things I would have liked to have seen more in this episode were more jokes of Roger exploiting his knowledge of the future and Roger losing his powers in a different way. While it may be comedic for him to lose his powers the same way he obtained them, it just came off lazy to me. It seemed like a good place to add an even better joke. But, I’m just nitpicking. It was a very good episode and I will probably watch it one more time before going to sleep tonight!
Did you guys enjoy ‘Vision Impossible’ as much as I did? Was I too generous? If you had the chance to see into your future, would you? Let us know below!
Also, I hope you all have a happy and safe new year, everybody!

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
