Shorts Review: Red vs Blue Season 11 Episode 17
Spoilers Below
Remember the days when I used to complain that Red vs. Blue, although funny, was slightly lacking in plot? Ah yes, a couple months ago, the good old days. Back when Breaking Bad was still a show, nobody knew how embarrassing the New York Giants upcoming season would be, and it wasn’t yet necessary to put a giant condom on our TVs any time Miley Cyrus came on.
Well, those days are gone. Breaking Bad is dead, the Giants look like the kind of team Special Olympics athletes get scolded for making fun of, and my optometrist told me I have hepatitis C in both eyes, and syphilis in my right one. As for the Reds and Blues, well they’re in a whole mess of trouble. The two teams have joined forces, and with a little help from newcomer Felix, they’re hoping to defeat some random dude backed by some random army on some random planet.
Episode 17 featured Felix and Washington having a (predictably more serious) conversation away from the group, regarding strategy, and the former showed a bit more humanity than in prior episodes. He even managed to crack a few jokes, the best of which was telling Wash, “Man, you are just cryptic. Like, all the time. Do you realize that?” Finally, someone called him out on it!
Elsewhere, the remaining members of the two teams addressed their needs prior to the upcoming battle. However, Sarge once again insulted both Lopezes, leading Lopez Dos.0 to take over CC’s body and attack the Reds and Blues. In that same moment, Locus (and the Federal Army) launched an attack. With no reinforcements and no plan of action, the Red and Blue soldiers looked to Washington for instructions. He only replied, “Engaging target,” as the episode ended with the sound of a gun firing.
Although still not as funny as previous episodes this season (but still humorous) it’s hard to knock the creators for rolling out such an involving episode. Plus, who doesn’t love a good cliffhanger? Either way, it is now abundantly clear: as this season winds down, the action just keeps heating up.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
