Review: Family Guy “Boopa-dee Bappa-dee”

Spoilers Below

Lois buys tickets for the Griffins to go to Europe after Peter fails to exhibit any sort of cultural value at Quahog. The family heads to Italy and with the kids heading to the local circus, Peter catches Lois attempting to go on a tour with some other guy so Pete dresses up as an Italian guy to try and convince Lois that he still loves her. A trip to the Canal closes the deal and now Peter wants to live in Italy forever. He burns the family’s passports and the kids don’t seem thrilled.

About a month later and everyone seems to be fitting in, but Lois and Brian want to move back home because they really aren’t making the money to afford that sort of lifestyle. Peter decides to adhere to his family’s wishes, but because none of them have the passports they have to take citizenship tests to get back in. Welp, they pass, but it’s gonna take 18 mos before the family can get their passports and worst yet the cost is 5k ahead. Why not just scurry on a boat and head back home that way, right? Welp, that’s what they do…as blow-up dolls. GROSS. Mario shows up to the Griffins house in Quahog to take back his lady…with Luigi.

Our Take

I still remember the ‘Boopa-dee Bappa-dee’ joke from Family Guy yesteryear so I was really excited to see this week’s episode. However, for the most part we’ve seen a lot of this before in both the travels for the Simpsons and Griffins where they go away from their home town, the husband decides to stay, but the rest of the family convinces the man of the house to leave. As a matter of fact Act II of The Simpsons Movie is pretty much all of this only the settings are different.

In any case, this week had a decent amount of laughs to keep me entertained though most of them were in the cutaways like the busted TV remote, or the Mario Bros. running trains on Meg. A little more creativity could have had this one go through, but bippi-dee, bappa-dee, do!
