Review: Axe Cop ‘Super Axe’
Spoilers Below
After a night of killing 7th graders, Axe Cop captures a machine that turns people in good guys and as such the President calls him up and gives him the next day off. Flute, Sock, and Grey all convince Axe to take a vacation an use a free cake coupon as part of the deal. Naturally, Axe decides to go to Hawaii pretty much by himself until he runs into his old buddy Super Axe. Super Axe is in town celebrating his wedding anniversary and has more or less given up his life of crime-fighting in favor of a more normal everyday dude. Back at his hotel room, Axe gets a message from a Evil Red-Headed Woman that she has stolen her machine back and is planning to go back in time to use it on everyone.
Axe tries to round up his troops to go into battle, but they don’t seem interested so he uses a porta gun on both himself and Super Axe to go back to the beginning of time and try and find Red-Headed Woman. When the guys arrive, they certainly appear in a more jungley era of Earth and soon befriend a frog that takes them to Red-Headed Woman’s whereabouts. Unfortunately, an asshole Griffin shows up and steals the frog and flies away. We learn that the Griffin drops the frog off where the Woman is hiding out and she uses the machine to turn the frog evil. Not only that, but similar to Aquaman, she controls all of the animals whom are now evil and uses them to attack both of the Axes. Thankfully, the guys are able to combine their powers and pretty much annihilate everything in sight. The problem with that is, now Super Axe’s wife aka Tracy is dead because they killed everything back in time. Super Axe is devastated which causes Axe to go back to the future and switch places with a still-alive Super Axe so that the two can populate Earth.
Another strong episode of Axe Cop, and arguably Jordan Peele steals some of the show as ‘Super Axe’. And he probably would have, but Axe Cop was funny on an illegal level. Red Headed Woman was an outstanding change of pace for the show that has been mired in recent weeks with no firm antagonist. The show seems to be leveling up leaps and bounds in the animation department and that is seen as most evident with the massive fight scene in the end that almost screams Tokyo in terms of complexity and acuteness. The plot devices near the end got a bit murky and I thought Tracy was miscast, but overall this week’s episode of Axe Cop was certainly super.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
