The Future of ‘Metalocalypse’ remains cloudy post ‘Requiem’ Special

Metalocalypse S4

It’s tough being a journalist in the entertainment business, so I totally feel for Robert Pasbani’s crew over on Metalinjection.net because I’ve been there. Here’s what went down:

Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small noted on MediaMikes.com that despite fan’s worries to the contrary, that the Doomstar Requiem special was NOT the last episode which I hear was also confirmed at Comikaze a few weeks back in Los Angeles by director Tommy Blacha at the Titmouse Panel  that the future of Metalocalypse does indeed look bright. However, there is much speculation as to what that really means.

Metalinjection.net took a brave stab and said ‘Metalocalypse Is Not Done’ which may or may not have jumped the gun especially when Brendon responded on Twitter:

In fairness, Brendon did not say that in the initial MediaMikes.com interview, however as mentioned Tommy did say the future of the franchise looks very bright. In any case, it takes a couple of years  to make an animated series so even if the future is bright, it’s far away. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a Venture Bros.-esque break for Metalocalypse in that we may not get anything until the end of this decade. Not to say Dethklok wouldn’t tour in that span of time (and I’m hoping they do) nor would it preclude Brendon from taking on some of the other activities that he seems to be enjoying like stand-up, Galaktikon, and/or perhaps something else entirely different.

For my money, MetalInjection.net is still the best metal news site out there. And yes site’s  flashy advertisements, I WILL be seeing Devildriver on Saturday Night at Starland Ballroom, NJ.
