Bubbleblabber vs Carl’s Stone Cold Pick of the NFL Week 8: Redskins vs Broncos

I’m on a bit of a losing streak with Carl as we both picked the Broncos to beat the Colts last week and of course that didn’t happen. To be quite honest it looked like Peyton’s emotions were running a bit high in that first half and to top it off Andrew Luck was brilliant. Remember the draft two years ago when Russell Wilson, RG3, and Luck all came out? Well to this day I still pick Luck to be the first of the trio to win the Super Bowl, but that would maybe go against my Super Bowl picks at the beginning of this season as I picked Cincy vs Seattle, to which it is WAY too early to predict who would win THAT game.

That said this week, I think we’ve got an entirely different situation as the Redskins take on the Broncos and yet again Carl picked the Broncos and even though it pains me to say this I can’t say I disagree. Despite what the Broncos did last week, Peyton Manning is still playing some of the best football of his life so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him pick off the Redskins for 52 points.  Let’s break it down!

RG3 is looking a little bit better as the season goes on after returning from having his ankle mangled last-season by a Coach who is all ‘tard. That said, there defense is atrocious with almost no one playing in their backfield. Even if Jim Haslett starts dialing up blitzes, Peyton’s been in this league long enough to have seen just about everything so I think he’s going to have no problem back there. I like Al Morris, but Denver’s D is ranked first against the run so RGIII will be forced to through. Yes, Denver as a very suspect back field, but RGIII really has no one great to throw to so look for this to be a day filled with him running around. Don’t be surprised if you hear Von Miller’s name said a bunch today.

Don’t let those injury reports scare you about Peyton’s ankles. This motherfucker could go out in a wheel chair right now and still throw for 350 yards against this Wash D. Denver’s run game has been getting incrementally better week after week as opposing defenses use a lot of nickel and dime passes in an attempt to try and slow Peyton down, so number 18 ends up throwing a couple of behind the scrimmage screens and what not to try and keep those D-fronts honest. The Redskins O is actually kind of legit with a 4th-place ranking, but Von Miller might be scary this week. I honestly think this is one of those games where Peyton gets mad and throws for a bunch of points.
