Season 7-B Review: Futurama
Similar to last year, Futurama started strong in quality with a couple of 9 scores, but July the show got BEAT early on. But then something happened…
For starters Larry Bird came in and SLAYED as a guest star in the ‘Saturday Morning Fun pit’ officially making him the best guest star of the season and yes that includes the Seth MacFarlane guest spot, too. The real winner for the month of August was the ‘Murder on Planet Express’ story line certainly bringing to mind an Alien meets Family Guy’s “And Then There Were Fewer” which helped the series turn a point from repeat premises into something a bit more wholesome.
The big and I mean BIG winner was the series finale. ‘Meanwhile’ has me convinced that maybe Futurama shouldn’t come back because I’m not sure if there was a sweeter ending than what the finale provided. Right afterwards some people went ahead and fucked around with the Nerdist Podcast with the cast and crew, but the TRUE fan recognized the sweetness of airing the show’s pilot episode right after the finale.
Other than the Simpsons cross over happening next year and a fistful of rumors out there, Futurama met an untimely demise. With 27 million Facebook fans all over the world, it’s difficult to think this would be the end of the series, but if it ends this way then I can safely say I’m OK with it. As Terry Funk used to say, ‘The best way to go out is on your back!’
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
