Meet Xiaolin monks Omi, Kimiko, Raimundo, and Clay, monks lead by Master Fung. There first mission is to find a new apprentice to add to the Xiaolin monks, but the entire team as to agree on who the new addition is. They eventually pick Ping Pong to join the ranks whom certainly acts like a bouncing ball!

We eventually meet Jack, an evil dude looking to take over the planet and a spirit named Wuya gives him what may be an edge in his next battle. Fung senses danger and the guys ramp up their training so much so that Dojo the dragon gets some pretty gross skin disease. Thankfully, Dojo gets bigger and starts to take the team over for their next quest when all of a sudden they come across a young blonde under duress. After all of the defeats, we meet Willow of whom decides to tag along.

Omi and the gang eventually meet up with Jack and they beat him up pretty good mostly because of Ping Pong whom is just a bad ass! He eventually gets challenged one on one by Jack, but Ping Pong wins in rather convincing fashion. Omi isn’t crazy about Ping Pong’s new found attention. However, Chase Young is in the shadows and hes gotta plan!

Overall, the first episode does a good job of re-introducing us to a lot of characters where if you didn’t watch the WB series you should feel right at home. The premise of the series isn’t all that original and since the WB Kids show has aired, Lego Ninjago has and you can’t help but compare the two mythologies and draw parallels. However, this series has BY FAR the better voice cast with Tara Strong clearly ahead of the voice acting pack as she plays both Ping Pong and Omi. If for nothing else, this show could be her Emmy, but it won’t win for writing.
