Review: Crash and Bernstein ‘ Crash McSmartypants’

Spoilers Below

Crash and Wyatt want to go to a big wrestling match and since its gonna be at LEAST another 30 years before time travel is invented the boys decide to get a job at the newsstand looking for tips.  Unfortunately, Crash’s big mouth usually leads to no money but we do get to meet Mel’s boss Andy.  Crash starts a new tactic, he offers tips FOR tips and it looks as though he isn’t wrong. From ants and fashion to investing in donuts, Crash can’t strike out! Roland finds out about it and he can’t believe it, but Wyatt is making some cash so he doesn’t care.

Meanwhile, Cleo decides to hold a board meeting but her friends don’t seem all that into it especially Shelby whose on thin ice.  When Cleo gets wind of Crash’s money-making venture she tries to get in but fails miserably. But, its here that Crash adds a new surname in ‘Crash McSmartypants’ and he soon starts getting local TV news attention. More attention gets more money, and Mel isn’t crazy about it because her boss is buying in.  With every success story, comes a book. Yep, Crash puts out a book with nothing but blank pages inside which starts to gain concern from Wyatt.

Things get worse when Cleo comes aboard to get an endorsement from Crash which works like a charm, but then Crash breaks out his cardboard box time machine.  Unfortunately for Crash, the crowd starts to dissipate when they figure that the purple dude is kind  of a fraud. The once happy crowd then turns into an angry mob that swarms on Wyatt with Crash grabbing the cash.

Not only is Crash and Bernstein back but it is on a different night and time which I think is a great idea. This week’s episode had me reminded as to why I kinda missed the show. I certainly enjoyed the new contributions from Andy Kindler (Andy) and Katya Lidsky (Gretchen)  as both added a certain supporting spunk the show is starting to ascertain. Cleo’s story was kind of a waste of time,  but it did introduce us to Shelby whom I think did a fabulous job of bringing the notoriously lofty little sister back down to Earth. It doesn’t take a lot of smarts to watch this show, thankfully that’s a good thing.
