Mid-Season Shorts Review: Majestic Loincloth (@LoinclothRB)
Spoilers Below
When we last saw Majestic Loincloth we were surrounded by wenches that we probably could have done with out. Thankfully, three plus episodes later they’ve been replaced with a bunch of well-thought out bad guys all of whom are better than the last. Episode 4 introduces us to monster demons with spiky balls, shitty-farting zombies, and dragons equipped with rock-hard erections. The song itself for this episode was kinda a bit overbearing with the auto-tune and so a lot of the times I wished that I could mute that part, but I am in awe of the monsters that creator Richard Christy comes up with. Seriously, after Stern he should go work for Superjail and just come up with ideas for monsters all day. Episode 5 was MUCH better as the song was hysterically written, and again the ideas for the monsters were awesome as this time we got lollipop creatures. These guys are bad news and at first it looks like this will be the last time we see Gunnar Steedhorn as he slips into a sugar coma. But, thanks to the Professotr’s expert licking abilities he’s able to get out. As mentioned the Lollipop song was the best-written in my opinion and were the most fun. The most recent episode of Majestic Loincloth didn’t have Gunnar in it, but instead featured his lovely wife Mandolyn getting harassed by Orloff of whom we hadn’t seen in a while.
Overall, the show is very strong and to be honest I bet if these were all put together you’d have a legitimate long-form cartoon that would make for a great Adult Swim special. Sometimes the show gets a little lost in terms of characters and plot and the over-auto-tuned songs can get to be a hassle to handle, but overall this is a rather strong property for Rug Burn. Check back in when we post up the finale so we can see how this one finishes…probably all over your face.
Episode 4: 6.5
Episode 5: 8.5
Episode 6: 7
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
