AwesomenessTV to premiere on Nickelodeon as a Sketch series…could ‘Fingerlings’ debut?? Competition for MAD on Cartoon Network??
We ponder…
Starting July 1st @ 8pm EST, AwesomenessTV will debut on the struggling Nickelodeon network as a sketch comedy series geared towards teens highlighting some of the internet’s best videos for the age group. That said, Dreamworks just bought AwesomenessTV and as a result one has to wonder if any kind of animated content will see the light of day on the series.
One of the shows we talked about previously was Fingerlings, a series consisting of finger puppets that tease at current pop culture moments. Chances are these guys won’t say anything bad to a teen idol like Justin Bieber, but at least we have the realm of possibility.
But, could THIS be a series that makes its way onto TV? It could help open the door to Nick beginning the process of winning over a slightly older audience as it tries to stay afloat with reruns of Full House running all over the place. The show will also provide for a bit of tussle for Cartoon Network’s animated sketch series MAD of which currently mans the 8:30 time slot on Monday Nights. Dreamworks could try and go after that audience a little with animated sketches of its own to go along with Fingerlings which consists of a premise MAD has certainly perfected over the years.
So what are your thoughts?? Do you want Awesome or MAD on Monday Nights??
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
