Comics Review: Simpsons Illustrated #6
Spoilers Below
“Merchants of Vengeance,” tells a story of how shoplifting has started to overtake Springfield. It drove Comic Book Guy, Apu, and Flanders to start up a anti-shoplifting initiative. They are the only ones to want to fight for it, so the mayor lets them get funding. They clean up Springfield so well, they decide they aren’t needed anymore. That is, until it seems that the shoplifting starts up again.
“The Secret Life of Bart Simpson,” is what happens when Bart lets his imagination run wild over his life. There’s a Die Hard spoof, a Radioactive Man spoof, Bart pretends that Itchy is sucking Scratchy into a vacuum cleaner, and the school is on fire. After a very brief talk with Skinner, he decides to not let his imagination run wild again…until later on in the issue.
“Holy Cow!! Has Pie Man Turned Evil?” is a story of Pie Man and his apparent descent into the dark side. Apparently, Homer has no idea that he is doing it. He gets arrested, all the while, still apparently committing crimes. Luckily, SPD isn’t entirely retarded, so they release him and let him clear his name.
“Bartzilla,” lets Bart’s imagination run wild again! And this time, Lisa gets involved. Bart and Lisa are told to go play, and use their imagination. So, Bart turns into Bartzilla, and starts tearing up Springfield. Who comes to save the day? Lisa does!
All in all, the stories are okay. The Pie Man story was a drag, and felt rather uninspired. The other ones weren’t all that bad, but they weren’t all that funny like in the last few in the Simpsons line. By itself, the comic was ok, nothing spectacular.
Overall,
6.5/10
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
