REVIEW: Dexter’s Laboratory “Rude Removal”

Since you clicked on this link, I’m pretty sure you remember what I like to refer to as the “Golden Age” of Cartoon Network. Shows like Ed, Edd and Eddy, Cow and Chicken, and Johnny Bravo ruled Friday nights. But, what I considered the penultimate of them all was Dexter’s Laboratory. I saw a little bit of Middle School ChefRich inside of Dexter. I was a nerd. He was a nerd. I had braces. He sounded funny too. I had a pain in the ass younger sister who loved to dance. His sister was older, but the same amount of pain in the ass. We just clicked!
Now I’m much older and looking back I think our relationship might have been nothing more than young love and me not knowing any better. I frequently look back at shows from my youth and say “What the fuck was in the water when I was a kid??” (I’m looking at you He-Man!)
Let’s start with the artwork. Is it just me or are all the colors extremely dull during the entire duration of the episode. The colors in the intro are much brighter but they seem to trail off as the show moves along. The art style is just as I remembered, which was great for the nostalgia, but nothing to scream from the mountain tops about. The voice acting is good, but in this episode the “bleeps” seem to somewhat ruin it. This could be a product of the amount of cursing we hear in normal show nowadays. I’m pretty sure most of us are so desensitized to cursing that the “bleeps” are actually more offensive than the fucks.
All in all, I kinda enjoyed the episode., but I think thats more of the nostalgia talking. If this were to come across my radar as a new cartoon, it would only get a solid 6 from me (giggity.) But since its older, and since it did make me smile and remember some better, pre-pubescent awkward times, it’s getting an alright score out of me.
(8/10)

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
