Acclaimed Writer Curtis Baxter to Pen Webtoon Adaptation of Sci-Fi Epic “War With No Name”
Curtis Baxter, a writer with credits on popular titles like Ben 10 and Marvel Comics’ Miles Morales: Spider-Man Annual #1, has acquired the rights to Robert Repino’s expansive sci-fi book franchise, War With No Name, and is developing it into a dual media project: a Webtoon series and an eight-episode animated television series.
The Webtoon series is currently in production and is slated for an early 2026 release, with Kisai Entertainment set to produce.
The Story: Love in an Animal-Human Apocalypse
The War With No Name saga is set against the grim backdrop of a conflict between humans and animals. The story follows Sebastian, a housecat who transforms into the lethal assassin Mort(e), as he travels the country searching for his lost dog love, Sheba.
Baxter released early character design concept art for the first season of the Webtoon, created by artist/illustrator MuYoung Kim.
A Partnership Built on Heart and Gritty Realism
Baxter, a member of Dan Lin’s Rideback RISE cohort, an accelerator program for creators of color, shared his passion for the source material: “Reading the War With No Name franchise made me feel like a kid reading some of my beloved favorites for the first time… Robert did an incredible job balancing an epic love story and a gritty world packed with action and emotionally deep, relatable characters.”
Author Robert Repino praised Baxter’s ability to capture the novel’s essence, noting, “There’s a reason why Marvel trusts Curtis with some of its most popular characters… At its core, War With No Name is a love story in an apocalyptic setting, which is why it needed someone who can reflect that tension.”
This dual adaptation strategy—leveraging the immediate engagement of the Webtoon platform alongside the broader reach of an animated TV series—suggests a significant effort to establish War With No Name as a major multi-platform sci-fi franchise.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
