REVIEW: SQUIDBILLIES “SQUIDBILLY MANFISHING”
Spoilers Below
Early is heading off to his guy’s only fishing deal but didn’t invite his son nor the Sheriff. Turns out after a recent indiscretion involving Early, a public bathroom, and a bunch of cameras, Sheriff not only arrested Early but also placed a tracking device onto Sir Squid. Sheriff and Rusty end up at a lake where they believe Early to be, but instead of looking for him Sheriff decides to do a bunch of fly fishing. However, night comes and neither has caught anything doing it the old fashioned way with poles and bait, instead Rusty just reaches into the lake and grabs the fish and brings them back to the shore. Unfortunately, when Sheriff tries doing the same thing, two catfish grab the poor mother fucker’s hands and drag him through the bottom of the lake.
Eventually, the Sheriff does wake up and is introduced to “CatFish Kingdom”, and underwater city built by the fish. Sheriff gets so excited that he tries to live in the underwater city, but the fish throw his ass out. Meanwhile, Rusty finds Early who has just completed a bunch of plastic surgery and is still recovering. Rusty tells his dad that the Sheriff has ‘drowned’ and is presumed dead, but with Rusty’s securely implanted ass chip and monster truck to boot, thy start searching the lake to see if they can find a body. Interestingly enough, the “Catfish Kingdom’ was all an illusion due to the Sheriff’s lack of oxygen and he really was on the verge of death.
This week’s episode of Squidbillies was awesome as hell as it had sort of a South Park -esque feel to it with the “Catfish Kingdom”, deal but almost in reverse because most animated shows try to escape when they go to a strange place and instead Sheriff wants to stay. That NEVER happens, and that’s the beauty of Squidbillies, expect the unexpected. Hell, the writers even threw in a few wrenches for good measure like where the hell Early was, the two tracking chips, and the fact that the Sheriff really was hallucinating the whole time. Certainly, was the best show of the Adult Swim night, no doubt!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
