REVIEW: LEGO NINJAGO MASTERS OF SPINJITZU “NINJABALL RUN”

The ninjas enter a contest in hopes of winning a cash prize to save Darreth’s dojo.

Spoilers Below

Darreth’s dojo is being forced to shut down unless if it comes with $50,000 made payable to a phony company that Garmadon built, and with Lloyd’s training at a critical state and as such the Ninjago are forced to help out. Enter the Ninjaball Run where the winner gets $50,000! Only problem is everyone and their parents are in it to also win the grand prize, Ok maybe just Jay’s parents but there’s still a lot of contestants. To make matters worse, both Garmadon and Scales decide to enter as well so as to thwart the Ninjas’ chances of getting their gym back and of course give Garmadon twice as much the probability that he will destroy the ninjas once and for all!

The race starts and at first things don’t go too smoothly for the Ninjao’s car, but thankfully Jay’s parents decide to help out and give the guys enough juice for the finish line, but not before Jay takes a piece from his parents’ car and puts it on their’s. Eventually, the Ninjago have a good enough lead and it looks as though they are going to win, but then Garmadon comes out of nowhere and creates a big huge cavern too big for the guys to jump over in their car but still allows Garmadon to fly over in his pirate ship. Thankfully, the Ninjago’s car turns into an airplane and it allows them to get over the huge crevice and still have enough speed to beat Garmadon. Also, Lloyd captures Garmadon’s pirate ship but the dark lord still gets away in Scales’ school bus.

Yes, the plot was very generic and we’ve seen it a hundred times before but when you fit it into the overall Season 2 plot device of Ninjago it really starts to integrate additional nuances to the story arc like Garmadon’s ship being taken away and Lloyd’s training coming to a head. The ending was rather predictable but it still made for a good time.
