#10 OF THE 10 BEST ANIMATED SERIES ON TELEVISION IN 2012…SO FAR
We are at the halfway point of our fair television viewing year and as such we thought it’d be bad ass to do a list of the highest scoring animated series of 2012…so far. After the jump, see who made the list with contributions made by all of our writers. Now to see who is number 10 on the best animated series in the first half of 2012…
#10
Bobs Burgers had a lot of competition last season for its time slot and FOX tried a lot of different things that didn’t stick. Allen Gregory starring Jonah Hill had SO many promotion dollars pumped into it and Napoleon Dynamite was a hit blockbuster movie that received immediate cult status and to this day still gets replayed all the time on Comedy Central. You would think Allen Gregory with its over the top abrasive humor would’ve been a decent fit sandwiched RIGHT before Family Guy and Napoleon Dynamite bared a lot of striking similarities to King of the Hill which would’ve had some thinking that maybe that was it.
But, the Belchers provided a charm that maybe no other animated series on FOX can match. Even with the title character being voiced by Archer’s Jon Benjamin, no one family member out shines the other as it really is a collaborative funny effort. Its a show that features the kids more often than not helping each other out( like The Rugrats) rather than fighting (like the Simpsons). Its a workplace comedy in an era when every other network else has already done them to death and yet this one resonates perfectly with its targeted audience of TV-PG because it doesn’t need any kind of over the top or gross humor to get across. As such, its no surprise that despite being in the face of Hollywood heavyweights, Bobs Burgers is still in business.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
