BONGO COMICS REVIEW: Simpsons Illustrated #2

SIMPSON/SIDESHOW SIBLING SMACKDOWN!
Lisa lives in the shadow of her older brother Bart. Cecil is constantly living in the shadow of his brother Sideshow Bob. So as expected, Cecil and Lisa become a match made in heaven! So much so that Cecil captures Lisa and ties her and her brother up. As luck would have it, she calls the cops but we get a certain unexpected happy ending to show for it.
Radioactive Man in Planet of the Strange- OS
Radioactive Man gets flushed into an alternate dimension with a bunch of clones. Thing Superman in Bizarro world but not nearly as good. Yea, this one didn’t do much for me.
Flu-Shot
Short and sweet short about Lisa and Bart standing on line to get a flu shot. Like all kids, they aren’t thrilled about the little prick, and Lisa gets swindled into going first. Hibbert runs out of vaccine and Bart gets to fight another day. His first fight? The flu.
Bart gets stumped
The government is coming after Bart for his tree holding up the infamous tree house. The government’s claim is that the tree is rotting so they think they have the right to go on to the Simpsons’ property and cut the tree down. The family is devastated but they don’t go down without a fight, so Lisa gets help in the name of Dr Frink. He comes up with a botox shot for trees that helps turn back the rotting of the tree and keep the tree house in tact.
I thought Simpsons Illustrated was quite a bit better than this. I do appreciate the editors trying to mix up the stories a bit, like with the Radioactive Man story, but it wasn’t even a great Radioactive Man! All the other stories were meh, with none really standing out other than the Cecil/Lisa story. The short about the flu-shot was kinda cute, but I thought the Bart gets Stumped should’ve been left on the showroom floor. If you really need these issues in your collection I would recommend it, but otherwise you should save your money and get the Milhouse issue.
