REVIEW: THE CLEVELAND SHOW “BROWN MAGIC”

In an attempt at father-stepson bonding, Cleveland takes Rallo to a magic show and, abracadabra, they become a ventriloquist act. Rallo plays the puppet but he’s no dummy, and he soon resents Cleveland’s hogging of the credit for their success.

Rallo wants really bad to be a magician, so he persuades Cleveland to take him to a big magic show down town. Cleveland is amped though because he feels it would be a great opportunity for him and Rallo to be closer, and it seems to be working…as a matter of fact they get so close they get confused for a ventriloquist act and actually get asked to open their own show! Unfortunately, Cleveland’s stage act is about as lame as lactose-free milk, that is until Rallo jumps in and takes over the stage, and before you know it, together with their manager Junior “Porque & Beans” is a hit.

Its not long before the famed act gets noticed by the esteemed Graham Kensington who is a top-notch reviewer of ventriloquist acts of which Cleveland starts to bask in all his glory causing Rallo to get pissed and to let loose that he actually hates Cleveland and doesn’t consider him his real dad. Despite all this, Donna forces “Porque & Beans” to do one more big show, but even when the chance for them to come clean arises, they still clean house!

This was a great episode of Cleveland Show and I always seem to like it better when there is one story line to follow. Because when that happens, Mike Henry takes over and acts all Mike Vick, causing you to laugh at every play he makes. The guest appearances were great too, Bryan Cranston has been doing voice-over forever so I wasn’t surprised that he was good, but was pleasantly surprised that Penn Jillette had stopped by. Fans of acts like Otto & George will deem it difficult to find fault in “Brown Magic”.
