WINNER OF ‘ECA’ 2012′S BEST ANIMATED SPECIAL “MORAL OREL”

There were a TON of specials this year for animated shows. Regular Show, Venture Bros., Spongebob, and more all had a valiant effort…but we think Moral Orel’s “Beforel Orel” special was the best of the year. Here’s why…

When we started Bubbleblabber we had one mission in mind…give animated TV shows the respect they deserve no matter what network as long as its prime-time or later. You see, for a number of years Adult Swim has always been the runt of the litter for mainstream press when it came to any kind of coverage. While South Park graced the cover of Rolling Stone Magazines and Bart Simpson was hawking Butterfinger candy bars, Adult Swim would help discover a slew of talent that for years would get the shaft in terms of decent exposure. A good example of this would be on December 13, 2005 Moral Orel premiered only to be cancelled three years later.  At the time social networking was in its infancy, so the only way you really found out about new Adult Swim programming was if you were already watching Adult Swim or if you were an avid fan of TV Guide. IGN.com used to be a decent site to get SOME Adult Swim shit, but like most sites at the time they were looking for a pay day, and when they got it they turned a blind eye to alternative programming in favor of coverage for terrible programming like True Blood or WWE wrestling.

In the case of Moral Orel, perhaps it was just bad timing because the show was usually quality and this was shown to be quite evident when after FOUR years of being on the shelf,  Orel, Clay, Broberta and the whole gang would show that they have not aged a bit in terms of their hysterical dialogue,  still topical religious overtones, and with almost no build up, some how Moral Orel towers over the competition. One might argue the Venture Bros had a great special, and they did, but we knew for a while that we were getting a special leading up to next year’s season premier. Adult Swim really didn’t give us much in terms of what to expect with Moral no panels at Comic Con, nothing, and what we get is an achievement in animated programming that will certainly help appease fans both old and new for years to come. Will Moral Orel ever come back? I’m not sure, but know that there is now at least one news organization that cares when it does and being that we are the #1 Authority on all thinks Adult Swim, Bubbleblabber will be the first to tell you.  Check out the review of Beforel Orel here…
