Why You Must Watch “Jeff & Some Aliens” to Kickstart 2017 (And Now You Can!)

Wait… what?

2017 is the year of new beginnings for many people. I see, all too often, the typical Facebook/Twitter post about how 2016 was terrible and 2017 is going to be monumental. Why not ensure 2017 begins on a great note? Watch a quality animated show. Let me give you little pro tip: Jeff & Some Aliens is already a strong contender for 2017’s best new animated show. It’s January 3rd, and I’m already placing my bets. Think about that for a second.

If you were like me, you’d watch Triptank, and think that the sketches ranged from poor to mediocre to amazing. The amazing sketches that always made me laugh and cringe (in the best possible way) were the Some Aliens sketches. I could always depend on Earth’s most average guy and his three intergalactic buddies to put a smile on my sick, twisted face. Whether it was Sammy, Jimmy, and Ted saving Jeff’s mom from cancer, getting addicted to his farts, or using a number of their universe-altering devices, there is never a dull moment.

I’ve seen the first three episodes and I was a bit skeptic of how the show would translate to 21 minutes, from its 2-minute format; but fear not, it works, and actually exceeded my expectations. It’s dark, funny, and has some faint political statements. It’s sort of akin to Rick and Morty, as it has a heavy focus on sci-fi elements and, is not just confined to planet Earth. Give it a try, and you won’t be sorry.

The first episode can actually be viewed here ahead of the televised Comedy Central premiere date of 10:30 pm EST on Wednesday, January 11.
